Third album by the two highly acclaimed Finnish violinists with eight wonderful, mostly traditional and newly arranged songs as a CD in a three-part digisleeve on Nordic Notes.
The Finnish press has already praised Emilia Lajunen and Suvi Oskala's refreshing approach to traditional songs as "chamber music for the dance floor". After two successful and highly acclaimed albums and live concerts in Scandinavia, Great Britain and even India and South Korea, "Toisjalkainen" is the duo's third work, which always sounds like more than just two violins and can switch between cheeky and lively as well as fragile and introspective in seconds. Six of the eight songs full of light yet spirited tones are again traditional compositions arranged by the two musicians, "Sometimes It Snows In Spring" was composed for them by the brilliant American fiddler Casey Driessen, while accordionist Teija Niku gave them the two-part piece "Balkanodemia". On "Toisjalkainen", intimate knowledge of the rich Finnish folk tradition meets masterful fiddle playing!
