HOW CAN I POSSIBLY SLEEP WHEN THERE IS MUSIC. A double LP of singing-poems! This record is the culmination of a process of poetic response/adaptation and musical collaboration that started in 2017 from a meeting with Beverly Glenn Copeland and soon after, my introduction to the Zen Buddhist poetry of Ryōkan Taigu. Out of this inspiration a band formed that is lightning and ocean wave, hot and cool, a band of overwhelm and flow. Together we are The Ryōkan Band, but individually we are Alex Lukashevsky, Anh Phung, Evan Cartwright, Felicity Williams Josh Cole, Phillipe Melanson and myself. The record was engineered by Jeremy Darby & Julian Decorte at Canterbury Sound. The brilliant Sandro Perri guided us in our three day session and mixed the record. Phillip Shaw Bova mastered it.
