Mama Lyon was a band whose destiny was to show the world the brilliant, passionate, exciting voice of Lynne Carey, a wild blonde with a stunning body from the covers of Penthouse, previously known for Ivar Avenue Reunion.
Mama Lion - Preserve Wildlife (1972). Another interesting example of female rock from the early 70s. The main figure in this group was Lynn Carey. The main figure in the literal sense of the word. She was the embodiment of the famous characterization from the film "Prisoner of the Caucasus" - "a Komsomol member, a student and simply a beauty." But in the American style - singer, actress, and model for Penthouse magazine.
I think that the disc sleeve, in which Lynn tenderly clutched a lion cub, was no less attractive than the contents of the record. And the material on it was of quite high quality, in the spirit of traditional blues-rock. The beautiful Lynn had unexpectedly powerful, bluesy vocals, which betrayed the childish temperament of her owner.
Her father was a fairly famous Hollywood actor, and she herself was quite a gifted person. She was interested in music and acting, and external data, combined with determination, helped her achieve her goals. The girl’s character was as uncompromising as her voice, as evidenced by her short but provocative career in Penthouse. “Statistics knows everything,” as Ilf and Petrov argued, and even today her name can be found on the pages of Wikipedia as the model of the month in December 1972. You can see for yourself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Penthouse_Pets. To justify Miss Carey, it should be noted that in the early 70s, Penthouse, after all, was not such an outspoken publication as it is today. Before her appearance in "Mama Lion", Lynn managed to work with a little-known team called "C.K. Strong". She tried herself not only as a vocalist, but also performed as a bass guitarist and sometimes took up the lead guitar. Perhaps her singing lacked the soul that Joplin put into her work. How many people can boast of this? So, you can download a very nice blues-rock, performed by an equally pretty girl. Some things are very successful. And the cover of Can't Find My Way Home is just very good.
Mama Lion - Give It Everything I've Got (1973). Again our old friend, singer and beauty Lynn Carey, vocalist of Mama Lion. The second album in its musical material is almost no different from the previous one, the same powerful and aggressive blues vocals of Lynn, a performance that was more reminiscent of the style of Led Zeppelin or Cold Blood than of Janis Joplin. Lynn never laid claim to being a trendsetter in blues-rock, but this was great old-school blues and the music, like good wine, doesn't get any worse with age.
