Chloe Slater returns with zesty new single ‘Nothing Shines On This Island’. The Manchester-based 20-year-old is making waves, with her peppy indie rock sound cross-spliced with some pop authenticity. Debut EP ‘You Can’t Put A Price On Fun’ is out on May 23rd, a depiction of life as a young adult on our broken island.
Her new single is a case in point. ‘Nothing Shines On This Island’ is a depiction of post-Brexit dystopia, and the atmosphere of gloom that seems to pervade the country.
A rocket from start to finish, its shot through with purpose, her rollicking indie pop sound infused with a politicised sense of awareness. She comments…
‘Nothing Shines On This Island’ is rooted in my discontent with the culture of British politics and the class system. Becoming a young adult in the cost of living crisis has really highlighted just how unfair the system is, and I know that a lot of my audience can relate to the struggles I have been writing about.
After releasing ’24 Hours’, I have gained such a beautiful community of like-minded people who have something to say about the world we live in. I hope that we can all make each other feel seen and heard, and that one day we’ll be able to make a real difference.
