On Buck Hill's fourth release for Muse, the veteran tenor saxophonist is heard in peak form. This particularly well-rounded set has many high points, including a hard-charging "Blues in the Closet," a couple of rare workouts for Hill's mellow-toned clarinet and a bright rendition of "Sweet Georgia Brown." However, the high point of the quartet date (which also features fine supportive work from pianist Jon Ozmont, bassist Carroll Dashiell and drummer Warren Schadd) is Hill's caressing of the beautiful McCoy Tyner melody "You Taught My Heart to Sing," a song that deserves to become a standard based on this rendition alone.
