Singer/songwriter Jenny Colquitt from Widnes, UK, returns with her new album, Staring At The Moon. With a mix of folk, pop and rock it is once again a beautiful blend of musical styles all of which showcase Jenny’s exquisite and emotive songs performed with her pure, soulful and captivating vocals.
When Jenny Colquitt emerged in 2021 with her debut album, Something Beautiful, it heralded the arrival of a truly outstanding new talent who really deserved to be heard on some bigger stages around the country if not the world. With a collection of heartfelt ballads, strong melodies and Jenny’s stunning soulful and eloquent vocals, all of which were filtered through an eclectic mix of Americana, indie, folk, rock and pop, this was an album which made me take a step back and consider the endless possibilities that could lie ahead for this great artist. And now we get the next chapter in this exciting journey through Jenny’s new album Staring At The Moon.
Since that debut album Jenny has continued to explore her own style as a songwriter, focusing very much on songs whose narrative is centred around her life and the circumstances she lives with and in.
Jenny explains the background to her new album as follows, “The album follows the themes of love, loss, and our ingrained vulnerability. It explores the dichotomy we are posed with being small humans on a planet floating in the mystery which is space. The moon and stars are our only reminder that the things we face daily are only so small in this beautiful universe yet the power of our love is stronger and larger than anything we can see with our eyes above us.”
