Based in New York City, award-winning pianist, composer, and educator Jason Yeager creates music that is deeply expressive and multi-faceted, defying convention while reveling in the traditions of jazz, blues, 20th century classical music, and Latin American folk rhythms. His forthcoming album, due out October 4th on Outside in Music, is entitled New Songs of Resistance, and features reimagined folk music from Argentina, Chile, and Brazil, as well as new compositions inspired by our current reality.
He has released four other albums of original music to wide acclaim, most recently All At Onceness (Red Piano Records) and United (Inner Circle Music), the latter of which was named a Best Album of 2017 by Downbeat Magazine. Yeager has performed at international jazz festivals abroad and across the US, at such venues as Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Birdland, the Blue Note, and Smalls Jazz Club. In addition, he was a finalist in the 2019 Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition, the 2017 International Songwriting Competition, and winner of the 2014 Hot House Jazz Fans Decision Award for best pianist. In 2019, he made his Carnegie Hall solo piano debut with a program combining classical works, jazz standards, and original compositions.
