Mandated solitary confinement (aka pandemic isolation) found Teresa Storch and Peter Lacis exploring new sounds and crafting fully produced demos for what would become 2024’s “Open Your Heart.” Those demos formed the basis for the lush arrangements that Tony Dickinson would bring, elevating the entire effort to another level. Drum loops and samples from laptop ideation became the guide tracks for live drums, strings, keys and horns, featuring top-notch musicians from Colorado and around the country.
With basics recorded at Chimaera studios, Storch continued to work with bassist Chad Mathis and drummer/recording engineer Chris Wright to craft just the right vocals at Cinder Sound Studio. Lacis preferred to hunker down in his home studio Tone Lab to craft the album's layered guitar parts, relying on a combination of old and new technologies to find the right fit for each track.
The result is a rich and diverse album, featuring road-tested songs and performances covering topics from political division, social justice and the #MeToo movement to eternal ideas of hope, love and relationship.
