Trudy Kerr - Cloudburst (2007)

'Cloudburst' is Trudy's fifth album, and is based on tunes from the instrumental jazz repertoire. The inspiration for the album came when Trudy heard John Coltrane's 'Moments Notice' and decided to write lyrics for it. Some lyrics have been penned by Trudy herself, others have become popularised over the years by other jazz singers. There is also an emphasis on vocalese, some written by Trudy, others by Jon Henricks.

The 14 tracks include: Gerry Mulligan's Bunny; Charles Mingus' Weird Nightmare; Antonio Carlos Jobim's Somewhere in the Hills; Thelonious Monk's Ruby My Dear, and Horace Silver's Come on Home.

Cloudburst features a selection of world-class jazz musicians including Dick Pearce, Alan Skidmore and Derek Nash.
