The seventh album, ‘Dancin’ Shoes’, by American saxophonist & flautist Paula Atherton contains 11 tracks from the smooth & contemporary jazz genres. To achieve this, she called on producers such as Greg Manning, Adam Hawley, Jacob Webb, Curtis Harmon, and Lou Gimenez. And no fewer than 4 impressive Top 10 hits await.
The opener ‘Baila’ is a nice Latin up-tempo number, on which Paula plays the flute, and which immediately makes you want to dance. On ‘Inside Out & Backwards’ it is all funk, on which Paula’s sax comes next to a guitar solo by Lou Gimenez.
‘Keep it Comin” (one of the proposed singles) shows swinging smooth jazz, followed by the soulful ballad, ‘Give Me A Reason’, which Paula sang herself. The title track (a second single) swings like crazy again, with a cheerful smooth jazz beat. You should definitely dance to this!
