Kyleen Austin started singing as as a young kid. As a young child, she was exposed to opera, symphonic music, folk music and Broadway musicals. Ms. Austin has performed throughout the western US in musicals and theatre. She received a degree in vocal performance in college, adding opera and the Great American Songbook to her list of musical influences. In 1990, she was introduced to the blues by Bay Area bluesman, Mark Sharfstein.
Six Way Signal is a collection of Bay Area professionals with a passion for music. It began in 1986 with a collaboration between Charlie Tilford and Geoff Green which estabilished the flexible foundation that characterizes the band's style. Gene Woodard joined in 1990 adding a country/swing and jazz style and Stan Carlson joined in 1994, adding a blazing blues/rock component. Ms. Austin began collaborating with the group in 1998, adding her versatile vocal style and new songs to the band's ever expanding repertoire.
