Andrew Mijares's musical journey began in the heart of Miami, Florida, where as a child, he was spellbound by the melodies of his mother's ballet shows. His early years were a tapestry of musical experiences, from learning piano to joining the esteemed Miami Children’s Chorus and touring across Brazil and Argentina, all while consistently refining his vocal skills with private coaches. Growing up in the limelight, he hit the stage in iconic productions like 'Annie,' 'Les Misérables,' and even secured the coveted role of Joe Jonas's character in Disney Channel’s ‘Camp Rock: The Musical’ as it toured South Florida.
In 2009, Mijares pursued studies in Communication and Music Business at the University of Miami. Making his solo debut with the release of his pop single ‘So Far Gone' on all streaming platforms, Andrew's talent began to shine brightly. His upbringing attending Christian school instilled a spiritual foundation, leading him to serve as a worship leader at a local Christian Church for over 14 years, passionately performing for up to 700 people across multiple services three to four times a month.
His remarkable talent caught the attention of television talent scouts, leading to standout auditions on notable shows such as FOX’s 'The X Factor,' where he earned a golden ticket, and NBC's 'The Voice' & Univision's 'La Banda,' where he impressed as a pre-judge finalist. Later in 2015, he collaborated with Miami DJs on a pulsating dance track titled 'Odyssey,' supported by Saiyan Records, showcasing Mijares' versatility and infectious energy.
In the years that followed, Mijares continued to refine his craft, captivating audiences at local bars with his cover band, The Andrew Mijares Band, while delving deeper into songwriting and even taking weekly writing courses at the University of Miami. The culmination of his dedication arrived with the release of his first EP, 'Real,' in 2020. The album showcased Mijares' fearless approach to songwriting, spotlighting his knack for crafting catchy hooks and emotive storytelling.
In 2023, Mijares embarked on a singles project, writing and releasing a song each month for the next two years, bolstering his online music catalog. During this time, he found new inspiration in country music, a passion ignited while attending Tortuga Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Embracing artists like Dan + Shay, Mitchell Tenpenny, and Thomas Rhett, Mijares infused his music with a fresh, dynamic energy, captivating audiences and critics alike.
As 2024 unfolds, Mijares is poised for even greater achievements, with his new pop-country 10-song album titled 'Roots' on the horizon. His performances, including headline main stage slots at festivals like The Key Biscayne Crandon Park 75th Jubilee Festival and Carnival on the Mile's 25th Annual festival, promise to elevate his career to new heights.
Maintaining a strong presence on social media, Mijares continues to engage his audience with studio content, music videos, and live performances. His talents have even caught the attention of Burger King, featuring him as the voice for their international Whopper Challenge Jingle in both 2023 and 2024. Andrew Mijares's journey is defined by resilience, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his craft, and as he continues to carve his path in the music industry, the promise of success looms large on the horizon.
