Cazuza - A Arte De Cazuza (2004)

A Arte de Cazuza is a rather comprehensive 20-track compilation of songs by Cazuza, a now almost legendary rock poet from Rio de Janeiro. Among the highlights are a gleaming live version of the title track "O Tempo Não Pára," the bittersweet "Ideologia," the romantic "Todo Amor Que Houver Nessa Vida," the political "Brasil," the soft ballad "Codinome Beija Flor" and the now emblematic "Faz Parte do Meu Show." Cazuza was always a unique lyricist and composer, with a very personal and direct way of speaking to his listeners, and this compilation gives a very good oversight of his brief but sparkling solo career. One cannot help but wonder how much great music he would have produced, if it hadn't been for his far too early death at only 32 years of age.
