Emerging Voices is Diphonon Duo’s first CD and a collection of pieces representing a significant aspect of their work, advocating emergent music, hence the title. It aims to contribute towards the expansion of the repertoire for accordion and viola and to show the possibilities and
rich sound this unusual instrument combination can create. Emerging Voices presents the work of six contemporary composers who have written new music, or transcribed their own existing pieces, for accordion and viola. Each of the compositions has a distinctive character and is inspired by different backgrounds and stories. Some of these works were born as a result of close collaboration between the composers and the duo, and all of them are presented here with the hope that the listener will find in them something unexpected and fascinating.
