Behind his pseudonym Please, Babe hides Jonas Landman, who is passionate about electronic and scientific machines, going so far as to build them himself to design his workspace. He appropriates their characteristics and shortcomings to create a resolutely ambient and experimental music. His tracks are composed using his DIY machines, which he combines with analogue classics (Moog, Juno 106, Space Echo RE-201), semi-modern rarities like the Japanese Tenori-On instrument and other granular synthesizers.
His first opus, entitled Les orbes célestes, is a subtle blend of science and music. The title comes from Copernicus's work, published in 1543, which asserted an alternative vision of the universe, placing the Earth around the Sun. Each track name, as well as the cover, carries a reference to metaphysical or scientific concepts, which the listener is not required to know, but which open doors to a new interpretation of the album. Les orbes célestes highlights the boundary between science and esotericism, between music and electricity.
