Bastard Jazz is proud to present 'Been Here Before', a collaborative project uniting Beyonce & Honey Dijon co-writer Cor.Ece (who won a Grammy for his songwriting on ‘Cozy’) and Bastard Jazz's Bad Colours. Produced in studios in NYC & LA, the album takes it’s production cues from classic Soulful House, UK Garage, Proto-Techno and Disco while Cor.Ece’s soulful vocals and vibrant hooks soar on to create a cohesive underground dancefloor record with crossover appeal.
Cor.Ece (pronounced COR-REESE) is a whole vibe. He is a co-writer on a Grammy winning songwriting team, for Beyoncé’s ‘Cozy’ from her groundbreaking 2022 album Renaissance. The LA-based vocalist and performer exploded onto the scene with a Razor-N-Tape label debut, the EP “Dance To Keep From Crying” along with an incendiary collaboration with Honey Dijon on her Defected Records singles ‘Unleash,’ ‘Work,’ and Stand’, the “smoldering and poetic” dance anthem for all times.
Bad Colours is the moniker of London-born, Maryland-raised, Brooklyn-based DJ, songwriter, producer, and instrumentalist Ibe Soliman. While his career has spanned nearly two decades - as both a DJ (alongside the likes of James Murphy, Mark Ronson, and Q-Tip) and producer (for Kendrick Lamar, Faith Evans, Keyshia Cole, and Rick Ross, among others) - the Bad Colours name only came into being in early 2020, with the debut LP, “PINK,” being released in February, 2021 on the Brooklyn tastemaker label Bastard Jazz. By tapping into his deep network of artist friends, Ibe compiled a treasure-trove of vocal samples, snippets, sketches, and fresh instrumental loops into a beautiful debut record that touches on hip-hop, house, and left-field electronic, while remaining irresistibly danceable.
