Julius Zeman and Shun Oi are making a special contribution to the Bruckner Year 2024: they have recorded Bruckner's 7th Symphony in the version for two pianos by Hermann Behn. The volume of sound that a Bruckner symphony unfolds in its orchestral form has a magnificent, even overwhelming effect, and something of this sonic power should definitely be conveyed by the piano version if it does not want to do without an essential feature of the music. The present result is convincing all round and comes close to the best performances in orchestral form.
