The recordings on this album are the fruit of a collaboration between Belgian and Iranian musicians and poets that started in 2019 within the Frontiera project “The City’s Song”. The aim of this project was to paint a portrait of the city of Tehran through the eyes and ears of the different artists involved. A search for the contrast and common ground between the lyrical-poetic truth of the singer-songwriter, poet, musician on the one side and the dramatic-naked truth of the visual artist on the other. This process unraveled within the context of a region in a complex geo-political situation and a worldwide pandemic.
The Tehran Sessions became a story of intertwining characters and cultures, that started in a tea-garden in Tehran and is still ongoing, fed by the songs and music we created together.
