Polythene Records /// "I wish I could roll this song up in a joint and smoke it." (Youtube comment on video single "Between the devil and the deep blue sea"). "Pitched with the fret menace of George Thorogood`s driving Electric-Blues and The Stones at their melodic best, Jumping Jack Flash sounds like a children`s nursery rhyme in mild comparison to one of Sweden`s most exciting independent guitar bands." (UK music blog Mojophenia on "Between the devil and the deep blue sea"). With their debut album "Good Karma Café" (2008) Swedish psychedelic guitar pop combo The Plastic Pals stirred up a lot of interest and got plenty of praise in European garage rock- and americana press. For their new album "Turn The Tide" the band teamed up with Chris Cacavas (ex Green on Red, Giant Sand, Danny&Dusty) as producer. Quite an appropriate choice, considering that the band's been opening act for paisley underground legendaries as Steve Wynn and Chuck Prophet and have played Long Ryders-tunes with ex-Long Ryder Sid Griffin in London. And another ex-Long Ryder, Tom Stevens, has written the liner notes for this album. These songs are an impressive set of glimpses into, as well as nods to, various parts of the rock and roll history - whether it 's glam, doo-wop, americana, power-pop, psyche, garage rock, blue-eyed soul, alt-country, New York-rock or paisley underground. It is also this mix of influences that gives The Plastic Pals a distinctive style and sound of their own. Or as one reviewer said about the about the band's debut EP "The Band That's Fun To Be With" (2006) that The Plastic Pals are "... draggin' the Ghost of Tom Joad all the way into the present". The vinyl version of this album is a limited hand-numbered edtion and comes with CD with all tracks and liner notes.
