"To Water, an infinite muse that morphs into diverse shapes, flowing seamlessly with the ever-changing present." With this statement of purpose, "Las Formas del Agua" unfolds, marking the second solo work by composer and violinist Blanca Altable, released under the Segell Microscopi label.
In this ode to the essential fluid, Blanca Altable weaves a symphony of post-folk and post-minimalist sounds, where beauty intricately intertwines with avant-garde through the layers of her violin, voice, and percussion.
Altable embarked on her solo journey with the release of "Somos Polvo" in 2021. In this album, the artist not only delved into the sonic possibilities of her violin but also began exploring the concept of looping (a cornerstone of her compositional system) and her own voice. Two years later, "Las Formas del Agua" emerged as the tangible evolution of this exploration, with tracks like "My Lion, mamma Lion" – a captivating and danceable song that opens the album, constructed using voice and percussion loops, inspired by the necessity of water for a heart of fire.
Influenced by traditional music, electroacoustic composition, and minimalism, this sonic expression of the aqueous element seamlessly merges with the vision of producer Samuel Peñas, who combines technical precision with a rich auditory imagination.
The work features collaborations with other artists, including rapper Alex Hache in "Drops," along with Coco Moya and Iván Cebrián contributing vocals and keyboards, respectively. Additionally, the producers behind "Inbocacción" (a pre-release single warmly received by audiences and media) and Diana Samprón on percussion in "Nubola" and "My Lion, Mamma Lion."
The 9 tracks of "Las Formas del Agua" represent a genuine immersion and the mature reflection of the new compositional path taken by the musician from Burgos.
