Back to business for Adieu Gary Cooper - after a moment of chosen silence and day jobs - with a new release "Toute sortie est définitive".
An organic fusion of guitars and synthesizers, their sound continues its evolution/exploration between Heartland Rock and KrautPop, between Springsteen and Eno, between a beating heart and a meticulous production.
“Every release is final” is the new album from the Swiss Adieu Gary Cooper. The trio has gradually evolved, over the course of its records, from beautifully crafted psychedelic rock to much more sophisticated and tense music.
“Every exit is definitive” confirms this desire to toughen up the subject, while infusing it with a perfectly contemporary energy. And above all much more synthetic. We could speak of electro-rock if the foundations of the group's music were not otherwise more exciting. Claiming the influence of, among others, the Velvet Underground, we can also guess the importance of krautrock, even robot rock.
The dancing and electronic tones that run through the entire disc would almost bring it closer to an LCD Soundsystem with all the lights off. Because it’s not just about making the dance floor shake but also about delivering soot-black rock. Music that recalls, in fact, the imagination of an upgraded Lou Reed. Or a Suicide who would have met Bashung.
The result is spectacular and exciting. This music carries within it all the toxic but terribly seductive aesthetics of early rock – when it was still the incarnation of subversion. And all the shattered modernity of an era at the crossroads of all uncertainties. “Every exit is final” is the perfect soundtrack.
