Michael Kaeshammer isn’t so much a piano player as a piano whisperer, a master musician, and a songwriter able to coax dazzling, kaleidoscopic sounds from his instrument in a way few can rival. That gift powers Kaeshammer’s upcoming 15th album, Turn It Up, due out March 1, via his new label home Seven. One Starwatch/Sony Music Germany.
Kaeshammer recently wrapped up sold-out tours in China and Germany and heads back to Germany in May for a major theatre tour. A full Canadian and U.S. tour is set for this fall with dates to be announced. Kaeshammer also has signed a new touring deal with German event promoter MMP/Starwatch.
Last month, Kaeshammer released the music video for the track “Little Bit Of Love,” and followed that last week with the release of the video for “Never Knew What Love Was,” a song that showcases Kaeshammer’s pure-pop style. Last year, he released the music video for “Turn It Up.”
Meanwhile, Kaeshammer’s Kitchen, his television show fusing music with cooking, has been renewed for its second season. The show sees the singer/pianist and unabashed foodie inviting celebrity musical guests over to make a delicious meal before sharing a performance. Guests featured in season one included legendary artists Randy Bachman and Andy Kim. The second season, expected this fall, will once again air on Yes TV and CHEK TV, as well as additional stations to be announced.
Born in Germany and residing in British Columbia, Kaeshammer has earned seven JUNO Award nominations and has been called “Canada’s #1 piano player” by CBC. He has captivated audiences around the world, highlighted by 10 tours of China, countless shows opposite international superstars, and three appearances at the Olympics to audiences in the millions.
Turn It Up, the eclectic yet accessible jazz-based pop album, features eight original songs and a dynamic cover of Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.” The album showcases Kaeshammer’s signature style, blending a range of keyboards, from a Wurlitzer organ to the Rhodes piano, with an ensemble of trumpet, trombone, saxophone, drums, and bass, all anchored by his sparkling voice and palpable positivity.
