In recent years, Konstantin Zvyagin has been working intensively on the music of Richard Wagner. This work resulted in the Suite in Eight Pictures of Wagner's Ring recorded here, with pieces from the Ring of the Nibelung transcribed by him for piano. Performing entire orchestral works on one instrument is of course a challenge - also in terms of pianistic virtuosity. But reduction also forces clarity: his transcription enables us to hear Wagner's music anew. The suite is framed by three late piano works by Liszt.
