Just under an hour of mostly Mary Lou Williams tunes(except My Blue Heaven)played by keyboard master Marian McPartland. Tasteful, sensitive, and sometimes delicate, McPartland is never less than brilliant on this tribute album. She is ably supported by Bill Douglas on bass and Omar Clay on drums. This superb set was recorded at Coast Recorders in 1994.
Recommended for sound quality, performance, and budget price.
By the way, this recording is truly a labour of love. Marian and Mary Lou were good friends for quite some time. They're standing together on the sidewalk in the 50's photo "A Great Day In Harlem".
