Terra is the title of the cantata for soloists, choir and orchestra that the composer Juan Durán created for the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Consello da Cultura Galega. “It is an ambitious work,” acknowledges Durán, who in this case has set music to the verses of Ramón Cabanillas. “He is one of the great poets of Galician literature with emblematic poems from which I have tried to extract all the music they contain,” reveals the Galician composer about his creative process and reveals that the piece “vacillates between the epic and the lyrical.” .

Juan Durán has been at all times “in contact” with Víctor Pablo Pérez, who today will take the baton of the Symphony. “Your vision of him is enriching. He has directed and premiered more than ten of my works, so the complicity is very great. We have talked a lot before about rehearsals because the score is one thing and the sound reality is another,” he says. In addition, the choir will be directed by Carlos Mena and Javier Fajardo.
