She is from Texas and caught the attention of producer Salih Williams in 2006 aged 20 and signed for his Carnival Beats label. In 2012 she made the last 50 of The X Factor and the following year released her debut album Latasha Lee & The BlackTies.

All her single have a 60s retro feel and her last two singles last year were released by Californian lowrider label Industry Music Group ("We Got A Good Thing" and cover of Lovations' "I Don't Want You") but she has a new album out today which looks self released. It consists of 18 songs and is tilted "Compositions of LaTasha Lee & Salih Williams". It doesn't appear to have any songs released as singles so we would guess they are unreleased songs that she has written with Williams over the years. We note that there are videos for many of the songs on her YouTube channel dating back to 2016.

Most of the songs have an early 60s sound and we can't help but compare her voice with Amy Winehouse's which may be a good thing for some and not for others.

The tracks we'd highlight are "Do You" (our standout with a bouncy crossover feel), "I Don't Know" , "Burn This City Down" and perhaps "What Happened To Us" (which has the feel of a Mary Wells' "You Beat Me To The Punch").

If you like the early 60s retro sound, predominant on the album, then this album may be for you.
