“This album is born from the freedom and naivety that comes from making something you don’t intend to share. It’s both careless and considered; these were my mantras and meditations of 2023”
So declares the much celebrated lutruwita/Tasmanian singer-songwriter Christopher Coleman as he releases his fourth studio album, Soft Knee Recordings.
Nine of the twelve recordings were written and engineered by Coleman while the remaining three collaborations were produced by Jethro Pickett at Rolling On The River in lutruwita/Tasmania. These sessions include masterful contributions from family band The Colemans, Seth Henderson, Scott Targett and Pickett.
“I’m releasing them softly, too. Like you might offer flowers to the river. No singles, shows or interviews; no flower or weed more important than the other.
“Away they’ll go, a dozen of them; they’re precious and they’re not. Some might make their way to great oceans, some will sink to the river I love.”
