Cordão do Boitatá is a block of the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro, founded in 1996.
Created by students and musicians, it plays in Praça XV, in downtown Rio. Although not part of the official schedule of blocks of the city, was one of those responsible for the revitalization of Rio street carnival. Every year it attracts thousands of revelers for its presentations, which last seven hours, always on Carnival Sunday.
