In 1979 while still in school studying to be a music composer Janis Lusens formed the experimental instrumental music band called Zodiac. Limited by trade restrictions Janis experimented in the beginning with homemade synthesizers to develop the bands out of this world sound. The resulting albums were a major success and sold over 20 million copies all over the world. The film includes original music from Zodiac’s early albums as well as new material composed in partnership with his son Janis Lusens Jr.

Canadian photographer Christopher Herwig travels former Soviet Republics from Ukraine to Uzbekistan, Armenia to Far Eastern Siberia, and all points in between, in a decades-long bus stop treasure hunt across more than 50,000 kilometres. Uncovering the stories of the designers who built fascinating architectural marvels during the Soviet regime, Soviet Bus Stops is an ode to the power of individual creativity that would not be suppressed.
