In the spring of 2009, I approached Eli Crews about performing a series of three live-streamed concerts at NIR Studios in Oakland. Internet radio had been around for several years but a live-stream concert was a still a novelty in the DIY realm and Eli found a solution that enabled us to record and stream the mix over the internet to the sfSound internet station that Matt Ingalls curated. The station showcased experimental, improvised, electronic, contemporary composition, and other forms of new music heard in the SF Bay Area.
Georg Graewe was spending time at CNMAT in Berkeley, Kjell Nordeson was making San Francisco his headquarters, and I was fortunate that their busy schedules lined up for the third event. The performance felt like an early radio station gig must have felt. We had no idea how many people would be listening in but the music was wonderful and it seems fitting to release now as an internet download.
