A magnificent tribute to the work of Thierry Escaich and Gregorian chant
A program designed as a continuous work, playing on spaces and atmospheres. Contemporary works dialogue with secular pieces of Gregorian chant.
Music that follows one another, surprises us, comforts us, shakes us up.

In this album, a young generation of talented musicians pays tribute to one of their mentors: Thierry Escaich. The breath of the soul is this current, this immaterial movement of the creative force which animates us, inspires us. Sometimes a tender, immutable breeze, sometimes a breath of air, an exhalation of the happy and unhappy feelings of our Being. The harmony of sounds and senses in the work of Thierry Escaich, compared with Gregorian chant, the true inspirational genesis of the composer, produces warmth and density of the discourse.
The Three Motets by Thierry Escaich alternate Gregorian antiphons with poems by Alain Suied, meditations on the meaning of life and the depth of our existence.
The Roman Mass for double choir and large organ was commissioned by the International Federation of Pueri Cantores (Little Singers); it was created by all the children's choirs gathered during the final mass of its 39th International Congress, on July 12, 2014 at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. This is his first world recording. This mass offers a palette of varied vocal and instrumental colors playing on spaces, with the underlying Gregorian vocality as a fundamental idea.
Evocation IV for solo organ extends this idea based on the hymn Verbum supernum. All this is part of a limpid and deeply human musical discourse. Finally, the Magnificat of the peregrin tone completes the program alternating with improvised comments on the organ by Thomas Ospital. This song of the Virgin Mary, the breath of life of an exalted soul, is characterized by the outpouring of intense happiness transcribed by the rich and subtle orchestral colors of the organ of the Saint-Eustache church.
The breath of the soul is the temporality, the languages, the different eras of the creators which collide throughout the program. To better reveal to us “great musical links serving analog thoughts, linked by an invisible thread”.
What better performers for these works than Thomas Ospital (organ holder of Saint-Eustache in Paris), and the young voices of the Dulci Jubilo ensemble, directed by Christopher Gibert.
