As a teenager, the first time Scott Holt heard Jimi Hendrix he was hooked. He was going to play guitar. His Dad, Jess, bought him his first guitar for Christmas that year. From that minute on he had tunnel vision. One year later Scott's father took him to see the legendary Blues artist Buddy Guy and his was life changed forever. At that show he had a chance meeting backstage as well as an impromptu guitar lesson. Their friendship began to develop and as Scott puts it, "It [our friendship] will last a lifetime." It was Buddy's sound that hooked Scott on the blues and his passion has never wavered. He remembers, "From that time on, with my Dad's encouragement, my personal and professional relationship with Buddy grew. He would ask me to join him at shows and 'guest' on stage until one day he took me totally by surprise and asked me to join the band. As shocked as I was, I didn't hesitate for a second and that began 'my trip to the university and the best education I could ever have." After touring with Buddy for ten years and building up an arsenal of his own songs Scott began to feel the need to play and sing his own material in front of audiences. "I started writing my own material while I was still in the band and had built a collectionof songs that I felt needed to be heard. When Buddy's band would go off the road Iwould play with my own band in Nashville. It was kind-of my baby steps in fronting a band and playing my songs," Holt said. "Buddy knew how I felt, and with his blessing, I went out on my own." With the release of this his fifth CD, REVELATOR, he continues to showcase his songs with his constant touring schedule and so Scott Holt goes forward never looking back.
