South Australian singer-songwriter Matt Ward unveils his latest musical endeavour, The Way That I Was Meant To Be. Ward recorded this collection of tracks ‘live’ with his South Australian band, The Rising Sons, capturing the essence of their musical genius and showcasing Ward's distinctive voice and masterful songwriting.
"This meant the songs and approach were raw, unhindered by overproduction and a good reflection of our live, energetic country rock sound—the way I was meant to be, perhaps,” he said.
Ward, who enjoyed time at No. 1 on the ARIA Australian Country Albums Chart with his album, Heartland, has explored who he is on the title track and his vocals shine as he lyrically navigates the journey of personal growth.
"This is really an acceptance song of who I am - but also that we almost must grow," he said.
Nobody Told Me blends Americana edge with catchy hooks reminiscent of Neil Young and Crazy Horse at their rocking best. Matt Ward's mature and confident songwriting shines through, offering a distinct and edgy addition to the Australian country and Americana music scene. The track explores the contrasts of humanity in brilliant poetry and songwriting.
Prior to the release of the EP, Ward unleashed a ‘secret’ single, third track, Secret Is Out.
"This is really a song that celebrates the truth,” Ward said.
“We can’t hide from it. Accept it and make the most out of it. Don’t let it weigh you down, let it go and fly!"
Two To Tango stands out as a sultry Americana duet featuring the captivating vocals of acclaimed Australian songstress Taasha Coates.
Adding to the EP's allure is the extended version of Nobody Told Me, capturing Matt and The Rising Sons at their best.
