Hailing from the heavily forested and swampy land of Latvia, Jōra takes you on a sonic tour of the sounds and melodies of the Baltic States, Scandinavia, and beyond. Traditional instruments such as the Latvian zither (kokle), overtone flute, and violin combine with driving guitars and ethereal soundscapes to create music that’s simultaneously ancient and modern.
Formed in late 2020, Jōra is made up of four multi-instrumentalists: Dārta Drava (violin, vocals), Ivars štubis (guitar, vocals), Kalvis Vītols (percussion, cajon, vocals) and Lauma Matule (Latvian zither, overtone flute, recorder, vocals).
