This collection of songs has great feel reminiscent of early Steely Dan and Santana. The musicians performing on this record are all seasoned pros, some of which have played on nationally charting recordings (Jason Patterson with "Cry of Love, " Jeff Grimes with "Jimmy Castor Bunch.") Tuff Blanton played bass with the legendary "Unknown Hinson" for a time. Excellent players. Tasty performances by folks who wanted to play and record together!
Lyrically, as well as stylistically, the songs are varied. Some truth, some fiction. For instance, this writer did awake one night to Snoop Dog selling the wonders of "Girl's Gone Wild." Though product was never purchased (written in first-person to make the story work), there was a newspaper article several years later about one of the participants in a video suing the company. What was she thinking when she saw the camera and started removing items of clothing? In reality, a commentary on modern-day life, morals and a predatory legal system."Square Peg" is about obsession with the wrong person (something to which we all might relate). "Edge of the Knife" is a commentary on techno-overdose. "Anything Can Happen," well....pretty much a male fantasy, but amusing. The list goes on. Each song presents a different tale and perspective of life experiences.
