Since the founding of the “Groove Connection” five years ago, the band has earned a good reputation among numerous fans. Now the time has come to not only win the hearts (and ears) of live audiences, but also of listeners at home. As at their live performances, energy, groove, contrasts and virtuosity are the basis for their playing in this studio production. All compositions are their own with refined arrangements, but which are never ends in themselves; they all have a comprehensible progression and development of tension - you actually can hear a developing story. But the band does not limit itself to a traditional guitar-B3 production, but also uses elements from other sources such as R´n´B, pop and soul jazz. To make sure that everything really works, Heydemann has selected outstanding musicians for the band. He himself has to his credit a Berklee scholarship and studies in Cologne, Amsterdam and New York under such masters as John Abercrombie and Pat Martino, among others, and is one of the guitarists most in demand in the scene. He plays even the most difficult passages with a remarkable lightness, and listening becomes pure relaxation as a result. Denis Gäbel has been known as an imaginative and skilled tenor saxophonist with a powerful in Germany at the latest since his Sonny Rollins tribute album. Dirk Schaadt - who studied under Larry Goldings and Dr. Lonnie Smith, among others - studied in Holland and is an organist much in demand there who has performed in innumerable festivals and television shows. Marcus Möller studied drums in Arnheim and has taken lessons from Jeff Hamilton, Dave Weckl and Bill Stewart. He is a sideman much in demand with one foot solidly in the pop business. When you listen to the Groove Connection, it’s clear that they are really enjoying themselves playing their music - something that is just as apparent in concert halls and on their CD!
