Siblings - In Heaven EP (2023) Hi-Res

South London indie folk/rock newcomers Siblings are delighted to announce that their debut EP In Heaven will be released on 16th November 2023. Siblings are band from South London who describe themselves first and foremost as a harmonious family.

They are essentially an indie folk-rock band who also have echoes of ethereal psychedelia, classic ’70s songwriting, and transcendental spirit jazz. The quartet who comprises of Theo DW (vocals/guitar), Ben Andrewes (drums), Rob Fenner (guitar/keys) and Michael Webb (bass) release their debut EP `In Heaven` this month.

This four track extended play kicks off with ‘Evangeline’ which I read is about “feeling desire and its relationship with the self.” It is for the most part a delightfully ethereal, dreamy musing on the thrill of meeting that certain someone and when life appears to change. The number takes a slight curve ball in the last sixty odd seconds when it kind of halts and becomes fairly reflective before a brief last burst of adrenalin. We have a much more introspective nigh on psychological offering with `Into My Dreams` with a graceful virtually celestial soundscape that felt almost hypnagogic with lyrics that mirrored this transitional state.

Title track ‘In Heaven` was inspired by Robert Desnos ( a surrealist French poet) and muses on loss and lamenting the passing of time. A further gentle, tender mesmerising composition with a slight jazzy vibe. We close out with `Hanging Of The Sun` which is initially pretty stripped back with lyrics that may refer to the passing of time and ones own decline as we become old and frail. It grows in musical volume as it evolves and is a thoughtful piece to end on.

`In Heaven` was a well thought out submission with lyrics that i`m sure could be interpretated in a number of ways and much better that my basic comprehension. Their sound has a balance of the ethereal and a more intensive indie folk like texture. A delightful appetiser for what i`m sure is bound to follow.
