Like the ancient fable sometimes called The North Wind and the Sun, these songs have been spun out again and again in different incarnations since long before we came along to spin them our way.

America is a lone traveller, holding its cloak close, clinging to traditions and customs it has no further need of while letting too many of it's most valuable and vital traditions fall by the wayside. We can try coax off the cloak through violence, becoming a mighty wind--but it is only the warm persuasion of the sun that will allow our metaphorical Country traveller to get naked.
