We can talk to each other only with music...a soulful dialogue "Musical Dialogue" from a 60 year old man, because he is 60, a 60 year old man put his soul into this CD. My fingers aren't turning well, and my tongue may not have caught up. I'm not sure about the pitch. But I want to say to the young people, "Can you play at 60, too? I would like to say to the young people, "Can you play when you are 60 years old? (To the people of my generation, I would say, "They released a CD when they were 60 years old. We have a lot of people of the same generation, and they have always given us good inspiration, so now we want to send them inspiration as well. (Igawa) In the Japanese music world, how old do trumpet players have to be before they can play? I (professor at Tokyo University of the Arts) and Akihiko Igawa (professor at Kunitachi College of Music), who both reached the age of 60, recorded this session with the intention of making a CD that challenges the proposition of how far one can go at this age. The main piece is "Concerto for two trumpets" by Eric Morales, "Concertino Classico" by Josef Horowitz, and "Dialogue" by Eugène Boza, which is also the title of this CD. As solo pieces, Akihiko Igawa plays "Sonata for Trumpet and Piano" by Hindemith and Hiroki Tochimoto plays "Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra" by William Perry. We recorded this session to preserve for posterity the wonderful tone of the hall and the musicality and timbre of the two musicians today. The piano was played by Nozomu Shimoda, who always performs at Tokyo University of the Arts. The recording was done by Kazuya Nagae, who is growing remarkably in the recording world. --- Hironori Tochimoto (1/2) Naxos Japan
