Jazz fusion band Olvine came together through the slow, delicious drip of music in the city of Liverpool. Similarly to their name, Olvine (a reference to the ancient creeping undergrowth found in and around Liverpool’s green spaces) came together almost as a force of nature, their disparate roots reaching out and entangling in the midst of an urban environment steeped in lush musical history. With each player bringing their own musical tastes and ideals to the project in equal measure, you find a refreshing fusion that is somehow hauntingly familiar: odd meters meet afrobeat, jungle meets jazz, and future soul meets drum & bass in compositions that transport you effortlessly on a kaleidoscopic journey. Olvine is Harry Jones (guitar), Harry Simmonds (keys/voice), Tom Benson (drums), and Will Hogan (bass).
