Dave Kusworth was a guitarist, singer and songwriter. He founded his first band, TV Eye, at the age of 16. In his further musical life he played in the bands The Hawks, Dogs D'Amour, Jacobites, Dave Kusworth & The Bounty Hunters, Dave Kusworth & the Tenderhooks, Dave Kusworth Group and Dave Kusworth & Los Tupper.
Dave Kusworth was denied greater commercial success. His most successful time was working with Nikki Sudden in the band Jacobites. The Jacobites album Robespierre's Velvet Basement, on which Nikki Sudden's brother Epic Soundtracks also contributed, is considered by indie rock connoisseurs to be a highlight of Dave Kusworth's work.
The cultural scientist Christoph Jacke, who was Dave Kusworth's tour companion in the 1990s, describes Kusworth's style as follows:
“In any case, with all of his bands, Kusworth has also created and performed some indie evergreens and catchy mini-hits between rock, glam, punk, folk, new wave, jangle, Brit pop, indie and alternative beyond the stupid stadium or cock rock and at the same time established hairstyle and fashion anti-styles and thus left a lot of very big fans and lookalikes worldwide.”
Dave Kusworth died in his sleep on the night of September 18-19, 2020.
