Frank Zappa's "Guitar" is an instrumental work. Like the preceding 1981 albums, "Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar", "Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar Some More" and "Return Of The Son Of Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar" (later released as a box set in 1982), Zappa had initially considered this as part of a set. However, the work was originally issued on vinyl & cassette as 19 tracks and on a 2xCD as 32 tracks, with the 1st & 19th track of the vinyl as a single. The work gained Zappa his 6th Grammy nomination for 'Best Rock Instrumental Performance'.
The segues and edits of the vinyl are distinctly different to those of the CD, which presents the work in a different order, not with the 13 tracks simply 'added on'.
