Colombian guitarist Francisco Correa, acclaimed for his 'eloquent' and 'expressive' playing by Gramophone and Soundboard Magazine, enchants audiences with his virtuosic performances. A versatile musician, equally comfortable with Western Classical and Latin American repertoire, he is highly in demand across the UK, Europe, and South America.A laureate of multiple guitar competitions, Francisco has showcased his talent globally, performing concertos with orchestras and appearing on national radio on both sides of the Atlantic. His debut CD 'Música de la Tierrita' received unanimous critical acclaim. A fervent champion of new music, he collaborates with esteemed composers to premiere and record new guitar works. Stephen Goss’s ‘Winterbourne Preludes’ were commissioned by Colombian guitarist Francisco Correa through his innovative ‘#AdoptAPrelude’ campaign. 12 patrons were invited to ‘adopt’ a prelude: choosing its name and having a say in the creative process. The resultant preludes are highly contrasted in scope and style, from virtuosic moto perpetuo movements to sound-worlds of deep serenity and intimacy. Paired with these are Mark Houghton’s ‘Twelve Preludes, Op. 79’, a neo-Romantic indulgence in the sonority of the guitar, with its special fusion of lightness and richness. Correa navigates these rapid changes of scenery with great mastery and poise, and the warmth of his playing is beautifully captured by sound engineer Matthew Wadsworth.
