This is the second and last album of the now little-known performer (real name Cristina Monet), released in 1984. Produced by Don Was (from the band Was Not Was), and assisting musicians included Doug Fieger (The Knack).
Christina is a Harvard graduate who worked as a journalist for the Village Voice. She recorded her first album under the direction of Kid Creole, the style was disco fusion. But the lyrics were already quite unusual (for example, “Love in the Jungle” - about a girl who marries a monkey..) On the Sleep It Off disc, the style has already changed a lot, this is a tougher new wave with characteristic arrogant and ironic lyrics of a disappointed the life of an intellectual girl (What's A Girl To Do), and with quite bright melodies. But the disc turned out to be the last, Christina married a French millionaire and left music forever.
