Based in Bristol, UK and Fillols, France, Gary Peters is a multi-genre composer, improviser, multi-instrumentalist. His music is varied but has an underlying focus on expanding the territory of the pedal steel guitar.. In a previous life he was Professor of Philosophy and Performance at York St John University, and the author of two much-acclaimed books on improvisation.
This is the first of four albums determined by the four points of the compass--Nord-Sud-Est-Oeste--each with its own musical idiosyncrasies. This one involves a lot of heavily reworked solo tracks from other albums, always with the Northern Hemisphere in mind. The result is something quite chilly but with moments of glassy sunshine.
