Perhaps the business of music is finally catching up with Shannon McNally. Like predecessors Bonnie Raitt and Lucinda Williams, McNally has become a legend on her own terms, and in her own right. Following a string of new original single releases in 2023, co- produced by Mike McCarthy (Spoon, Patty Griffin, Lee Ann Womack) and Shannon herself released by her very own label Queen Maeve Records...the veteran songwriter musician is releasing a career retrospective live album that chronicles her music from root to tip in September 2023. At home in any size venue from the Staples Center to a living room, McNally's sets at Nashville watering hole Dee’s Country Lounge were the backdrop for this gem. The album was performed to sell out crowds over four Wednesday nights of a September, 2022 residency. With a carousel of her favorite local musicians, and masterfully mixed by McCarthy and herself, this feral cat finally tripped the trap. It’s hard to say which is more enjoyable; her storytelling or her singing. Together here, the listener is transported into her world of humor and musical thought as well as her ghost band of mentors whom she readily invokes.
