Jackson, New Jersey based R&B singer Chris Pittman was discovered by
Maurice Starr and signed to Atlantic Records. In 1991, he released his
debut album "C.P. Time". Produced by Starr and recorded at the House Of
Hits in Boston, MA, the album featured a mix of contemporary R&B and the
new-and-hot style of new jack swing, as spearheaded by the likes of Teddy
Riley and Bernard Belle.
The album was led by the first single "Show Me", featuring backing vocals
by Perfect Gentlemen, and peaked at #51 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles
chart, staying on the chart for 8 weeks. The follow-up single "We Forgot To
Say Goodbye" was only released promotionally.
-----
Modestly performed, nicely produced, but also quite generic and faceless urban contemporary and dance/pop material from Chris Pittman. Atlantic's early-'90s roster was littered with competent but unassuming urban contemporary, dance-pop, and hip-hop types who could put all the ingredients in the pot, but never made anything out of them. Here was one more.~Review by Ron Wynn
