After spending most of his 20s in Leeds-based band Goodbye Chanel, later known as Modern Pleasure, Johnson, Newcastle upon Tyne born singer/songwriter, moved to Tokyo in late 2018.
His debut EP ‘Songs from an Empty Orchestra’ marked a move into a new solo venture. On this first effort, Johnson crafts his own blend of ‘Motel Pop’, telling stories of the city, future blues, friendship, and coping with change. With influences rooted in Alt-Rock, New Wave, and Dream Pop, the album was recorded in rundown karaoke rooms and performed in dingy Japanese clubs.
In 2022 Johnson moved to London. In his forthcoming LP ‘Digital Utopia’, he leans inward, tapping into the past, present and future with an introspective and honest take on the elements of everyday life - identity, the mundane, and our lives online.
