To celebrate the one-year anniversary of his warmly-received concept album Memory Constructions, Swedish composer Jakob Lindhagen invites some of his favourite artists in the post-classical, ambient, and experimental world – including Tangerine Dream member Hoshiko Yamane and award-winning film composer Alexandra Hamilton-Ayres – to reconstruct the album from beginning to end.

“With the theme of the original album being how memories change over time, I find these new interpretations of my tracks as perfect metaphors for what they could change into, or what they could have been instead.”

Memory Constructions, the sophomore solo album by Stockholm-based Jakob Lindhagen, was a musical exploration of the unreliability of memories, described as “incredibly beautiful” by Swedish National Radio. A carefully selected group of artists, admired by and inspiring to the composer, has now re-imagined the album from beginning to end, making it a journey through lush soundscapes, haunting strings, soft beats and more, managing to be both cohesive and sprawling, and both close to and wildly different from the original. The full list of artists contributing to Memory Reconstructions are Hior Chronik, Madeleine Cocolas, Hoshiko Yamane, R Beny, Maxy Dutcher, Alexandra Hamilton-Ayres, Cedric Vermue, Vargkvint and Blair Coron.

Memory Reconstructions releases on the 22nd of September, a year after the mother-album, with artwork by Sofia Nystrand and design by Celia Bayo.
