The band Violeta de Outono is a Brazilian psychedelic/progressive rock band from São Paulo. They were originally a post-punk band with some psychedelic elements intertwined, but they would gradually drop their post-punk influences and add more progressive elements to their sound as time went on.
The band Violeta de Outono was formed in 1984 in São Paulo, Brazil, by Fabio Golfetti, Angelo Pastorello and Claudio Souza, shaping their own sound by mixing current trends at the time with the psychedelia of Pink Floyd and The Beatles. Throughout their musical career, the band remained parallel to the mainstream. Their first LP, self-titled, from 1987, marked by a psychedelia wrapped in shadows, brought together fans of progressive rock and post-punk and gothic styles.
In 2007, Violeta de Outono released "Volume 7", with influences of rock, jazz, pop and a bit of the English Canterbury scene of the 1970s. Also from the period is the DVD "Seventh Brings Return - A Tribute to Syd Barrett", released in England by the Voiceprint label.
The founder of Violeta de Outono, Fabio Golfetti, is currently the guitarist of the psychedelic band Gong, which was led by Daevid Allen (1938-2015).
In 2012, Violeta de Outono released her new CD, "Espectro". The current lineup features Fabio Golfetti (guitar and vocals), Gabriel Costa (bass), José Luiz Dinola (drums) and Fernando Cardoso (keyboard).
The band recorded their seventh studio album Spaces, which was released on October 14, 2016.
